West Essex Golf Club was delighted to host the Essex Invitational, one of the Southern Regional Qualifiers in the prestigious England Senior Series. Over two action-packed days, the event brought together a competitive field of experienced golfers and celebrated the vibrant spirit of senior amateur golf, with Darren Cox from Stockbrook Manor proceeding to the next stage of the series.
A Premier Stage for Senior Golf
The England Senior Series is a nationwide tournament circuit open to men and women aged 50 and over, all with an active WHS handicap and membership at an England Golf affiliated club. The series includes 15 Stableford Qualifiers across the North and South, with a blend of individual, team, and match play formats, offering a rich and inclusive competitive environment.
West Essex was proud to serve as one of the seven Southern venues, continuing our club’s tradition of welcoming top-level amateur competition to our fairways.

Challenging Conditions, Impressive Play
Despite occasional blustery winds, the course held up beautifully. Thanks to the dedication of our greens staff, competitors played on firm, fast greens and perfectly maintained fairways—framed by the natural beauty of our sun-soaked parkland setting.
The challenging conditions brought out the best in the field, rewarding precision, patience, and course management—key traits of the seasoned senior golfer.
Road to the Grand Final
The Essex Invitational offered more than local bragging rights. Darren Cox has now secured a highly sought-after place in the England Senior Series Grand Final, which will take place at Woodhall Spa Golf Club on 6–7 October 2025, complete with a gala dinner and overnight stay.
Meanwhile, players finishing in places 2 to 11, including our own Graham Tansley, have advanced to the South Regional Final at Knole Park on 16 September 2025, giving them a second chance to qualify for the Grand Final and etch their names into Senior Series history.
